Autograph Sessions vary by performer. Often you can catch them hanging out with their fans or walking the halls, but others may have time scheduled for a formal meet & greet and photo opportunity. You'll have to check the detailed schedule you receive when you board the cruise.

Cabin Directory is a voluntary list of cruisers and their cabin numbers so they can find their friend's cabins on board - this is organized through The '80s Cruise Meet & Greet group on Facebook.

Cabin Sales and Roommates - a dedicated Facebook group for Cabin Sales & Roommates was created to help people resell their cabins or find roommates. It is strongly recommended by ECP to buy insurance in case  you need to cancel, but for those who don't have insurance (or their reason to cancel is not covered by insurance) their only option is to find another buyer for their cabin. All transactions must go through ECP - there are no private sales. Buyer pays the current rate for cabin (discounts, reserved seats, and show times are not transferable). There is a $500 fee for cabin sales to be negotiated between the seller & buyer.

Celebrity Hosted Events   From 2016 - 2020 ECP offered Celebrity Hosted Excursions. Post pandemic that has become Celebrity Hosted Events on board the ship (such as wine-tasting, cake decorating, etc.)  These events are typically announced by ECP in your e-mail any time between December and February and go on sale soon after (see Spreadsheet Of Key Dates To Anticipate).

Concert Schedule Since 2019 it has been released close to departure date. See Spreadsheet Of Key Dates To Anticipate at the bottom of this page to get a general idea of when ECP might provide this info.

Costumes are completely encouraged but by no means necessary. You will see some amazing ideas and collaborations. Most people change into their costumes for the evening activities; either before dinner or before the show. There are no rules. See also Theme Nights.

Door Decorations are a fun way to personalize your 80s interests.  The cabin doors are metal and thus, magnetic. Some people post '80s posters and pictures, and some post more personal collages. Check out the blog entry with photos of awesome doors!  According to the Explorer of the Seas website, their cabin doors are "32 - 34 inches wide" (probably 78" tall).

ECP is the charter company that manages the entertainment and events on The 80s Cruise. They book the ship in its entirety then resell the cabins. These are the people you contact if you have questions regarding your reservation or celebrity-hosted excursions. However, if you have questions regarding the ship's accommodations, regular excursions, what is allowed, handicap access, food allergies, etc. you'll need to contact the cruise line directly.

Facebook Groups help cruisers stay in touch before and after the 80s cruise. The 80s Cruise Meet and Greet group is a great resource for cruise questions and general help from past cruisers. There are also specialized groups for Cruise Costumes, Single cruisers, LGBT cruisers, and many regional groups - see my list of groups here!

Flash Mobs began in 2018, organized by Kathy Machacek and her “Solid Gold” crew. In 2019 Kathy organized the even bigger “Checkered” mob that coincided with The English Beat performance after the Senior graduation.  The Flash Mob for 2022 will "Solid Gold" - details are in the Facebook Meet & Greet group.

Get Ready Mailer is a printed mailer sent out in the fall and contains important details about Travel Insurance, Documents required to cruise, Online check-in, Luggage Tags, Port Arrival Details, Theme Nights, Door Decor (and Door Dimensions), Costume Categories, etc.   See Spreadsheet Of Key Dates To Anticipate for when this typically arrives

Graduation - Since 2019 ECP has held a graduation ceremony for “Seniors” who had cruised 4 years since the inaugural 80s Cruise in 2016, complete with a cap and gown ceremony.  The 4 years do not need to be consecutive.

Host Hotel is a block of hotel rooms for a promotional price near the port. They will sell out of rooms, but there will be plenty of other nearby options. There is usually a party assembled by members of the Facebook Meet & Greet page the night before the Cruise sets sail.

Pillow Gifts(ECP term) are cruise-themed swag left in your cabin each evening - including your official Cruise T-shirt.

Red/Blue Shows refers to the Early/Late dinner and showtime on the main stage. Your cabin key card will be colored Red or Blue to indicate which showtime is yours. Other shows at other venues are not carded.

Reserved Seats are a perk offered to return cruisers who book the earliest. They will be notified (by e-mail) when they can select their reserved seats and provided a login token typically one hour before their reservation window. The seats only apply to the main stage shows in the evening - no other venues. See Spreadsheet Of Key Dates To Anticipate for an idea of when these are announced and implemented.

Stuck In The '80s is an 80s podcast that hosts trivia events on board the ship for fun prizes. Some trivia sessions feature celebrity guest co-hosts.

Swag refers to gifts from fellow cruisers typically handed out, left on cabin doors to grab, or sometimes even hidden on board to be discovered. In 2025 there was an organized swag swap at the sail-away party on Day 1.

Theme Nights are selected by ECP and completely voluntary. Some people opt to participate in all, others only a few. And some disregard the themes entirely opting to stay casual, or do their own 80s theme. You can't go wrong. You will not feel excluded whatever you choose. Most people dress for the main stage show, but if you have late dinner you may opt to dress after the show.
