We've had amazing line-ups every year, but maybe you're wondering how they compare? Well, I did some research. As before, if you see any mistakes please (kindly) let me know (preferably with a link to the correct info). Obviously this does not include comedians and actors.
The list of top 40 hits is by no means the only metric of comparison. Grandmaster Flash performed with the Furious 5 and had a #62 Hot 100 hit, and on the R&B charts they charted 8 times. They were inducted into the hall of fame in 2007 and won a Grammy in 2011. Grandmaster Flash had 4 solo singles on the Billboard R&B charts, and was also an innovative DJ (re: scratching, punch-phrasing, and backspin technique). So Billboard Top 40 / Hot 100 is just one way of comparing artists... but in THIS case, doesn't show the bigger picture.
